Course description
This course provides a comprehensive examination of work, organizations, and employment through critical scholarship. Designed for bachelor's and master’s students, the course delves into the dynamics of power, control, and resistance in the workplace. The course aims to allow students, as prospective employees and employers, to be cognizant of the various power relations governing work. Such knowledge is essential for future workers/employers to act ethically and produce fair workplaces.
Objectives
- Understand the historical evolution of business and management knowledge.
- Critically evaluate the contributions of Marxian, feminist, intersectional, postcolonial, decolonial, critical race, queer, and crip perspectives to the study of work and organizations.
- Analyze the role of power and resistance in shaping workplace relations.
Course Structure
The course is divided into thematic modules, each focusing on different critical perspectives and their applications to contemporary organizational settings. Students will engage deeply with the material through lectures, readings, discussions, and case studies.
The course can be attended by bachelor's and master's students at both the universities where the lecturers are working. Each university awards ECTS credits to its students.
