Quantum Insights for Next-Frontier Health and Well-Being (QUINN)

We are looking for partners interested in the development of interdisciplinary research and courses for university students aimed at integrating teaching and scientific activities in the two fields of knowledge – quantum physics and biomedicine.

In today’s world, interdisciplinary collaboration is essential for addressing complex scientific challenges. As the UN marks 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, this is a timely moment to explore how quantum science can intersect with and transform other fields — particularly biomedicine.

The project QUINN proposes collaboration between physicists, biomedical scientists, and educators from ENLIGHT universities. The aim is to explore, formalize, and promote the emerging field of quantum biomedicine including two key areas:
• Development and application of quantum sensors and technologies for biomedical diagnostics and monitoring, which are expected to revolutionize healthcare.
• Investigation of biological phenomena that may fundamentally rely on quantum processes, representing a frontier in understanding life at quantum level.

Equally important is our goal to promote quantum education for non-physics students. In the first year, we will create interdisciplinary educational materials and host online seminars. The second year will focus more deeply on quantum biomedicine, with scientific seminars and an in-person workshop to consolidate the network.

  • Disciplinary field: Interdisciplinary joint activities aimed to accelerate the application of quantum physics in medicine and related biology
  • Funding programme: ENLIGHT Thematic Network
  • Deadline: 30/06/2025
