DIS/CONNECT

Gender, Power, and Disinformation Across Borders (DIS/CONNECT) is a virtual, interdisciplinary, and transnational intensive workshop series that brings together students, early-career researchers, and practitioners to critically engage with the intersections of gender, sexuality, human rights, and digital cultures.

Category: Incubator Grant

University: University of Bern, University of Göttingen, University of Groningen

This initiative is a virtual, interdisciplinary, and transnational intensive workshop series that brings together students, early-career researchers, and practitioners to critically engage with the intersections of gender, sexuality, human rights, and digital cultures.

It stands apart due to its strong integration of critical theory, legal literacy, and digital media praxis, which is rarely combined in traditional course offerings. The program is entirely challenge-based and student-centered, structured around a “live simulation” model in which students select a real-world media campaign (at the local, national or international level) and analyze it across multiple thematic angles throughout the course.

"What excites me most about DIS/CONNECT is its immersive, student-led “live simulation” model that places real-world relevance at the heart of the learning experience. I look forward to seeing participants engage critically with complex intersections of gender, power, and disinformation, and collaboratively develop insights that address gender-related disinformation online. The interdisciplinary and transnational nature of the project promises rich, cross-cultural dialogue and mutual learning."
